This trip covers the four great, big, full of history and charm cities of Lithuania - Kernavė, Vilnius, Trakai and Kaunas. Without rush - savoring the atmosphere of these heterogeneous cities.
The first city to visit will be Kernavė with its 10-14th century castle hills and the excavation plae of the Old City, which has been included in the UNESCO World Heritage list. Here, in the picturesque alley of Neris river, 5 castle hills are seen all together.
The capital city - Vilnius - attracts with its charm of harmoniously combining the ancient history with modern day life. We will visit the Gediminas Tower - one of the symbols of Vilnius, the Gates of Dawn - the world-renowned holy site in Vilnius that attracts pilgrims from all over the world, Cathedral Basilica and more.
The other face of Vilnius with its own interesting history - the Republic of Užupis - is a wonderful place for a quite bohemian rest. The artist district reveals painted houses, art galleries, unusual, yet comfy cafeterias and boutiques - all of this creating the special aura of the district.
In Vilnius you will have free time to experience the attraction of Vilnius by night and taste traditional local cuisine, do your shopping etc.
The second day we will start with the visit of the impressive gothic style Medieval Castle - Trakai island castle, which was one of the most important Lithuanian strategic objects, and today is the only island castle in the Eastern Europe.
Free time. Possibility to have lunch in one of the Karaim or Karaite taverns.
The Old Town of Kaunas. Contrast of Ages - from the 13th century castle ruins to the Town Hall - one of the most glorious examples or baroque in Kaunas and Lithuania, which because of its form is also called the 'White Swan'. From the gothic House of Perkūnas (Thunder) to the pedestrian street of Kaunas - Laisvės (Freedom) alley.
